Penny Rugs are such FUN to make! They require basic sewing skills allowing the beginners to try their hand at this time honored craft. Basic materials are required and available at your local Jo Ann Fabrics store.
This mat measures 29" long and has a 8" overhang. You EASILY adjust the pattern to fit the depth of your mantle or shelf.

The design features a butterscotch colored ginger boy ~ gold stars ~ moss green holly as well as red and cream berries with brown branches all mounted on a jet black wool felt background.
  I used black and cream embroidery floss with LOTS of easy blanket and running stitches throughout.
